will take place at the beautiful Oasis Retreat Center in Vancouver, WA January 11-13, 2019. 

This powerful personal leadership retreat, offered in a virtual-only format in December 2017, is happening IN-PERSON this year.

Not to worry, a virtual option is still available for those unable to travel to the pacific northwest this year.

I love the fall holiday season, starting with Halloween and running through New Years Day! December is a busy month for many people, full of travel, gift buying and endless holiday parties. With my birthday also being in December, these last two months of the year often leave me little time for personal reflection, planning or rest.

So often we start the new year frazzled and surprised that January has come so fast! The new year offers the natural opportunity to make a fresh start or find a new perspective. It offers the perfect timing to set some new annual goals or resolutions.

I invite you to join me in a powerful experience of self-renewal and annual goal setting during Spread Your Wings 2019! 

Together we will have an entire weekend of focused personal retreat and reflection time to look back on 2018 and look forward to 2019. We will enjoy a variety of experiences designed to provide restful rejuvenation, personal insight and confident excitement for 2019 as we create goals or resolutions for the new year. I've created each session with care and am excited to facilitate each one for us as we individually and collectively prepare for another year.

Unfortunately, it can be hard to prioritize ourselves. Our goals, our growth, our self-care, our passions get overlooked when our schedules are so full with great things like jobs, family obligations, social activities and volunteer commitments . This is especially true during the Christmas season).

I've created the perfect opportunity for you to focus on yourself for just a little while once all the holiday festivities end. I've got it all set up for you! You just need to supply the willingness to go after your best year yet!

Retreat Format and Overview

The content of this annual goal setting retreat is intentionally divided into two sections to allow  enough time for your heart and mind to reap all the benefits of your reflection and time away from every day activities. We will be diving into powerful material and rushing the processing time will simply limit what we each can get out of the experience. In order to provide us all enough time to think about the retreat content, the program will pause for several hours of personal free time mid-day on Saturday.

Each of the two parts will be structured similarly and include group teaching or activity segments, individual reflection time and group discussions. You'll receive the core content for each session then have time to apply it to your life using worksheets and various resources. The overall flow for the weekend will be both relaxed and purposeful. This retreat will include spiritual elements due to the nature of the topic and practices of the facilitators. It is not sponsored by a church or any specific religion. People of all faiths and walks of life are welcome to attend if they want training on (and time for) annual reflection and goal setting.

Meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the weekend. Common dietary restrictions and allergies will be accommodated. Shared bedroom accommodations are available for women only due to the layout of the retreat center. Men and local participants are welcome to join during the day and should select "Day-only" when registering.

The retreat begins at 6:00pm Friday, January 11 and ends at 12:00pm Sunday, January 13.

Part 1: Looking Back

Friday night/Saturday morning

Birds are not born ready to fly. They need a little time to prepare for flight, before they spread their wings. So do we! The first part of Spread Your Wings 2019 will take you on a journey to review your past year and set the foundation for an amazing year in 2019. Sessions will include:

  • What Doesn't Kill Me Makes Me Stronger" - Recognizing the year's challenges and struggles
  • "It's My Party & I'll Celebrate If I Want To" - Acknowledging successes and accomplishments in 2018
  • "From the Eagle's Perspective"  - Synthesizing the Lessons and Insights from 2018

Part 2: Looking Forward

Saturday afternoon and evening/Sunday morning

Once ready, every bird will spread its wings and take flight.  The second half of Spread Your Wings 2019 is your turn to spread your wings, stretch a bit, and get ready to soar into the new year. This part will help you look ahead and dream for 2019, establishing a confident excitement around what's to come.

  • "The Complete Pre-flight Checklist" - key elements of setting goals and ultimate resolutions
  • "Layovers Really Are a Great Thing!"  - Personal flourishing and self-care practices
  • "Finding A  Guiding Light" - selecting a guiding concept (phrase, picture, word, etc.) for the year

Additional activities to personalize your retreat experience

The entire weekend will include experiential content and activities to help you apply the core content and get the most out of your retreat. Options will include:

What made you decide to offer this annual retreat?

I am passionate about helping women ages 25-40 create the Personal Leadership practices, Life Management skills and Life-Clarity needed to lead authentic and amazing lives, while feeling supported every step of the way! I have organized a wide variety of personal development events as part of my career as a life coach and love the retreat format. In 2017 I had the opportunity to present at a women's retreat in October and getting my content ready reminded me of how much I love working with people in a retreat format.

At the same time, I was excited for my own personal retreat planned for early November as part of my annual end-of year reflection process. I felt a strong desire to welcome other women into this annual habit of mine for the first time. So many people I know start the new year tired and feeling behind after a big holiday season. It can be very hard to get "me time" during December between all the holiday parties and travels. Carving out just a few days at the start of the year, once all the festivities end, is the perfect time to reserve a little time for personal goal setting and reflection. The retreat setting is the perfect format for this kind of intentional personal work. This retreat will include spiritual elements from a Christian perspective. This retreat is not sponsored by a church or any specific religion. People of all faiths are welcome to attend if they want training on (and time for) annual reflection and goal setting.

Will there be a virtual component this year if I cannot travel to Vancouver, WA?

Yes! I know people from coast to coast, and internationally, so  I want to make sure anyone who wants to carve out a weekend for their own personal reflection and goal setting can do just that! When registering look for the option that says "virtual participant" to receive recorded videos of the retreat content and worksheets via email within one week  of the live retreat. Virtual participants are also welcome to join the Spread Your Wings 2019 facebook group.

How will lodging been assigned?

Overnight lodging will be assigned as registrations are processed. The standard retreat package includes a queen sized sleeper sofa or twin bed. If you'd like to secure a larger bed, you can upgrade to a full or queen sized bed when registering by purchasing the additional $20 lodging upgrade ticket.  Every person will be assigned their own bed and due to limited lodging options, overnight lodging is reserved for women only. If we need additional bedding options, queen blow up mattresses will be made available at a reduced ticket cost once all beds are full.

Men are definitely welcome at the retreat and are asked to register as a day-only participant. If there are couples wishing to participate together and want to discuss joint lodging options, please contact Jessica to figure out the best options to accommodate you both.  When all bedrooms are filled the overnight option will no longer show on the registration page.

What is holy yoga and who is facilitating these sessions?

Certified Yoga Instructor, Southern California native and overall awesome lady Suzy Sweeney will be leading us through some simple beginner friendly yoga poses each morning. Holy yoga is a physical practice of aligning the body, combined with breath work and mindful intention of reliance on God.  Holy yoga facilitates the experiential worship and celebration of God through movement and meditation for all believes in - and seekers of - Jesus Christ. Yoga is set to inspiring music and is designed to encourage strength, healing and community.

What is appropriate dress/attire for the retreat?

Jeans, t-shirts, PJs, sweats, workout clothes, dresses, slacks, hoodies, giant fuzzy house slippers...whatever you want! Anything goes. It is your time, your retreat. Just make sure it is appropriate for being around other people (men and women).

What supplies do I need to bring with me?

I will take of most things you'll need including the food (gluten sensitive and vegetarian options available if requested), linens in the rooms and participant worksheets. You may want to bring a journal and pen if you like to record your thoughts by hand. Anything more than this is up to you! You may want to have a water bottle and personal snacks available to keep your body nourished and content. Layers and walking shoes will be helpful if you'd like to head outside during your free time for a walk. Bring a swim suit if you want to enjoy the indoor pool! If you have a yoga mat that you would like to pack too, bring it!

How can I prepare ahead of time to get the most out of my retreat?

You'll have two ways to prepare for your retreat ahead of time. The first way is through a private Facebook group open only to retreat participants. I will post simple introductory questions each day during the week prior to the first day of the retreat. The point of this pre-activity is to prime your mind and heart for the retreat and help you meet the others participating around the globe. The second way to prepare for your retreat in advance is by reading the material  sent to you upon registration and prior to the retreat's start. This material will include an overview of the retreat weekend as well as some quick reflection questions. These two methods of preparation are designed to help you get the most out of our time together.

What if I live locally and can't make all the sessions?

All of the material in this retreat will be awesome! You won't want to miss out on any of it and I ask that all in-person participants plan to stay for the entire retreat. If an emergency does come up and you need to leave, by all means, go. I will be recording the main teaching sessions for our virtual participant and could send you any recordings missed for an emergency following the retreat.

Is anyone available after the retreat to help me clarify my take-aways and strategize for 2019?

Yes! I am offering a special discount on individual coaching for any retreat participant and you can purchase these with your registration or at the retreat. A single 60-minute follow-up strategy session can be added for $59 (to be used by January  31, 2019). A set of four 60-minute coaching sessions can be added for $199  (to be used by March 1, 2019.)  If you decide after the retreat that coaching would be helpful. I'll honor these special prices for coaching for all retreat participants through January 31, 2019.

What is the refund policy?

If you are not satisfied with your retreat experience, a 50% retreat refund will be provided if requested by January 31, 2019. A refund will be processed once we've had a chance to talk through how the retreat did not meet your needs or expectations.
